2013 Murray Street Vineyards Barossa Cabernet

     Here is a delicious wine which is easy to appreciate.  It has a lot of ripe fruit flavor and is of the highest quality.  It is made by Murray Street Vineyards in the Australian wine region of Barossa Valley. And is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
     这款红酒美味且极易入口、品质极佳,它饱含着成熟浓郁的果香味,是澳大利亚南部布诺萨山谷产区,穆理街酒庄的上乘之作!百分之百的赤霞珠葡萄酿造。

Murray Street Vineyards - This is a modern company which owns two estates on the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley.  They are obsessed with quality and believe that the quality of their wines comes from the fact that they have the best soil in the world.  Their Greenock Estate Vineyard is where they have their Cabernet growing.  It has deep, red clay soil, and gets quite hot in the summer (up to 45 degrees). In the vineyard, they usually do not use any fertilizers or pesticides and try to avoid watering their grapes. In the winery, they use a mixture of hand and machine methods, and use the best American and French oak barrels.  Everything at this winery is the best, which is why it is the most popular place to visit in the Barossa Valley.

Barossa Valley - This place has been growing wine grapes since German settlers first took vine cuttings there in the 1840’s. Most of Australia’s most famous wine companies own land here. It is most famous for its Shiraz, but also produces excellent Grenache, Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Chardonnay and Semillon.It is a fairly dry, hot place, so most vineyards require irrigation. However, some of the best vineyards are on hillsides which are not as hot, and some of the best wineries don’t irrigate, so the dry conditions encourage deeper root growth and lower yields which ensure high quality grapes.

Cabernet Sauvignon - It is one of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse spectrum of climates. Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in Bordeaux wines where it is often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. From France, the grape spread across Europe and to the New World. For most of the 20th century, it was the world's most widely planted premium red wine grape until it was surpassed by Merlot in the 1990s. Despite its prominence in the industry, the grape is a relatively new variety, the product of a chance crossing between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon blanc during the 17th century in southwestern France. Its popularity is often attributed to its ease of cultivation—the grapes have thick skins and the vines are hardy and naturally low yielding, budding late to avoid frost and resistant to viticultural hazards such as rot and insects—and to its consistent presentation of structure and flavours which express the typical character ("typicity") of the variety. The classic profile of Cabernet Sauvignon tends to be full-bodied wines with high tannins and noticeable acidity that contributes to the wine's aging potential. In cooler climates, Cabernet Sauvignon tends to produce wines with blackcurrant notes that can be accompanied by green bell pepper notes, mint and cedar which will all become more pronounced as the wine ages. In more moderate climates the blackcurrant notes are often seen with black cherry and black olive notes while in very hot climates the currant flavors can veer towards the over-ripe and "jammy" side.

     This wine is made in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy.  It is a white wine produced by Michele Chiarlo following the strict traditional guidelines required for designation as a DOCG wine under Italian law.  It is, more importantly, a wine made from cortese grapes grown on a famous hill called Rovereto in the commune of Gavi.
      这款白葡萄酒产自意大利北部皮尔蒙特产区。是迈克基阿罗酒庄严格按照传统步骤程序打造的一款意大利DOCG法定等级酒(意大利法定等级中的最高等级)。更重要的是,制酒的葡萄歌代赛,采摘于嘉维小镇著名的罗韦雷托山。

Michele Chiarlo - This is a company represented by four generations of winemakers who only make traditional style wines. They make very high quality, complex wines which can often be aged for very long periods of time.  They do this by paying close attention to the soil quality and managing yields.  They employ the use of some great technology to ensure that their wines are world class.  If you go there today, you will see that their grapes are completely harvested by hand and they use the highest quality equipment and processes available.  They own some of the best vineyards in Piedmont for growing the Nebbiolo and cortese grapes.  They also run an amazing luxury resort at their property at Cerequio.

Piedmont - It is a region in the far north west of Italy.  It is in the foothills of the Alps and borders France and Switzerland.  A lot of great wine is made in Piedmonte. Two very famous red wines are made there from the Nebbiolo grape, they are Barolo and Barbaresco.  These wines are recognized worldwide as some of the best and longest lived wines. Piedmont also produces the famous sweet white wine called Moscato.  It is a very fragrant and delicious dessert wine which can be heavenly. Winemaking in Piedmonte is well documented since the 17th century, but most current, traditional winemaking styles have been unchanged in over 100 years.

Gavi - Gavi is a small town in Piedmont.  For a white wine to be labeled with the word Gavi, it must contain only wine made from the cortese grape. Within the area whose wines can be called Gavi, is the 90 hectare hill called Rovereto.  This hill is considered a historical cru, and consists of dark, pebbly clay soil which is perfectly suited for growing the cortese grape.
嘉维-嘉维是皮尔蒙特的一个小镇。在嘉维这个地方有一个占地90公顷的小山,叫做罗韦雷托(意大利历史产区),这个小山的土质特殊,黝黑的陶土夹杂着小卵石,是歌代赛葡萄生长的绝佳环境。一款白葡萄酒如果想在标签上打上嘉维标识,那么它必须由百分之百的歌代赛葡萄而酿。

所以,不知道大家注意到没有,这款金卡会员收到的白葡萄酒上,没有标明葡萄的种类,而是写着嘉维(Gavi)这个地名。这就是由于DOCG法定产区的酒,只要说地名,它特定的葡萄就不言而喻了~

Cortese - This is a white grape primarily grown in Italy. It has moderate acidity and light flavors which have long been prized as the perfect accompaniment to the local seafood along the Mediterranean coast. It is a grape which can produce high yields, so growers must prune to balance yields (usually limiting yields to only 7 or 8 bunches per vine) in order to get the desired complexity and mineral content in their grapes.

歌代赛-是一种意大利土生土长的白葡萄。酸度中上,味道清浅。长久以来,被热那亚当地追捧,因为,这款白葡萄酒是地中海海鲜餐的绝配。歌代赛葡萄在当地被称为“慷慨的藤曼”,因为每一年,它的产量都很好,这使葡萄酒庄园必须严格平衡它的产量和质量。通常,庄园会限制每条藤上只长7或8串葡萄,来保证葡萄的好味道以及矿物质含量。
